Lenovo expands the ThinkPad portfolio in UAE

Company launches New ThinkPad X1 and ThinkPad 8

Lenovo expands the ThinkPad portfolio in UAE

At a roundtable discussion held in Dubai only yesterday, Dilip Bhatia, Vice President of ThinkPad Product Marketing, excitedly announced the latest additions to Lenovo’s ThinkPad portfolio in the UAE market, introducing the Middle East to the  third generation ThinkPad X1 Carbon, and ThinkPad 8.

“The new ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a natural evolution of our PC+ portfolio and a further step in fulfilling our promise to bring innovative personal machines to customers in the UAE,” said Bhatia. “With its unique premium design and innovative features, the new X1 Carbon is the best business class Ultrabook available on the market today, built from the ground up to suit both enterprise and personal needs. As for the ThinkPad 8 tablet, we are offering our customers a full PC experience through a premium compact device.”

The New X1 Carbon is Ultrabook prides itself on being ‘uncompromisingly light’ – no mere sensationalist boast at a weight only 2.8 pounds, and ‘virtuallyly indestructible,’ – though we’re not quite sure how they proved this latter aspect.

Admittedly, the X1 products do have a reputation for pushing boundaries, both in design and usability, and thankfully at first glance, the  new X1 Carbon is no exception. It features the Adaptive Keyboard, which adjusts based on the software or application being used to highlight the most relevant keys, and also integrates voice and gesture control, allowing users to interact with their PC in modern and familiar ways.

The ThinkPad 8 on the other hand, sells itself as a ‘premium 8-inch tablet’, constructed of the sturdy sounding machine-cut aluminum, geared at those users who require a more portable device without sacrificing the ability to connect to a keyboard and display for a full PC experience.

In addition, it allows users to capture photos and videos intuitively and easily with the Quickshot cover. Users just peel back the tablet’s cover to expose the 8 MP high definition camera, triggering the camera app to open. Once captured, users can view and edit their photos and videos on the startingly bright 8.3-inch 1920×1200 display and transfer them wirelessly using Miracast technology or view them via a cable using its microHDMI port.

“We are excited to launch the newest members of our ThinkPad family in the country. As the new No.1 PC vendor in the UAE and the world, we look forward to carrying on this momentum into our PC+ range,” said Oliver Ebel, Lenovo MEA Vice President. “The Thinkpad brand has always been a clear favorite by our customers as it is known for its durability, productivity and innovative features.”

The new X1 Carbon Ultrabook and ThinkPad 8 tablet are available mid February, starting at AED 6,250 and AED 2,000 respectively.
